Tawang Market

I love to visit markets whenever I visit any new place. It gives a great insight to the produce of the region, local food and the culture of the region. The cacophony, noise and the smell is intriguing and interesting. When I visited Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh well known for its monastery which is the second largest in Asia and largest in India I was keen to explore its markets.

Park in Prashanti Lodge

APPROACH & ACCOMODATION The Prashanti Lodge is based in Bhalukpong town towards the Assam state. I stayed in this hotel when I was returning from Arunachal Pradesh. This town lies in both the states and I found the concept very amusing. The approach to Prashanti Lodge is quite easy as it is very close to the main road. The last 100 meters though is not very appealing as you pass through garbage. It would help if this area is cleaned and made more appealing.

Golden Ducks or Ruddy Shelduck fly into this lake in pairs and it is great to capture them. Army personnel are stationed in this area and cater to food and beverage needs to the tourists. Steaming hot coffee with great company of the jawans for some gupshup…

Arunachal Pradesh

When I received the gift voucher of 30,000 INR from makemytrip.com I wondered which destination in India should I travel to? The customer executive from Makemytrip suggested the touristy kind of trail like Kerala, Rajasthan. But I was keen to explore the unknown and the the unheard, where few have tread. After few rounds of contemplation I zeroed in on Arunachal Pradesh.
