3 days agoby rathinasankariWhen I saw this boy sitting in solitude on a raised platform in Sarkhez Roza his calm, brooding persona in a traditional attire drew me. But as soon as I took out my camera a bunch of unruly kids joined him and wanted to be photographed. They refused to budge until I clicked the motley crowd. ♂️
Only when I obliged did the monkeys depart and i could get a solo picture of him

7 days agoby rathinasankariAs I walked around Manek Chowk in Ahmedabad the sight of this man in traditional Rabari clothes sitting in one of the tiny garment shops in the area was arresting. Look at those huge rings adorning his ears, double breasted waist coat and white turban.
Gujarat is home to many ethic communities of which Rabaris are one. They are cattle herders and nomadic.

1 week agoby rathinasankariThe first trip of the year takes me to Gujarat. That’s me at Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad. Look at those magnificent pillars with beautiful carvings. I never expected to find such exquisite work which is normally found in a temple. Ahmedabad has taken me by surprise.
