Chinnakallar Falls located about 20 km from Valparai town is the wettest place in this region. It is also called the Cherapunji of the south as it receives second highest rainfall in India.
A small dam followed shortly by a beautiful roaring waterfall in the dense jungles of Anamalai ranges Chinnakallar is a must visit when in Valparai. Wild animals like the tiger, leopard and elephants frequent this place.
A board stating Rainforests are the lungs of our Earth stated the need to preserve and conserve this place. A bridge takes you across the stream and every where you look it is absolutely a shutterbug’s delight. Leeches are found in abundant here at Chinnakallar. The falls is open for visitors until four in the evening. One needs to take an entry ticket to reach the falls.
Valparai has abundant waterfalls and is overflowing during the rains.
Chinnakallar is best visited after the rains between November to May. A private vehicle is what would take you to this place. There aren’t any shops around this place but a tiny hamlet en route is where you can find some food.

It is about 100 km from Coimbatore. You need to travel via Pollachi to Valparai. I shall be having a post on the blog on how to reach Valparai shortly
