With two weeks of Diwali vacation for the kids we decided to stay put in Bandipur for four days. Being a member of RCI group we got accommodation at the Country Club resort. This resort is in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve about 8 km in the interiors.
APPROACH & ACCOMODATION
The last 5 k.m to the resort is a dirt path that tends to get bumpy specifically in the rains. You can see spotted deer passing through this property as you drive by. Surrounded by trees amidst the Bandipur Forest it is a beautiful resort. None of the rooms have air conditions probably this area doesn’t demand one.
Our room had a great view of the low hanging clouds on the western ghats and abundant birds chirping in the property.

FOOD & NETWORK
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are buffet style and nothing specific to rant about. There is vegetarian and non-vegetarian option with a mix of north and south Indian dishes.
The property experiences frequent power failures but the DG back up helps. WIFI is available in the reception area only but didn’t work for 3 days of the 4 days stay. Service Providers like Idea, BSNL, Aircel, Airtel and Reliance don’t work in this property. Vodafone works in pockets. The property does have a STD counter that the guests could use.

ACTIVITIES
There are numerous indoor games like chess, carom that could keep you engaged. Badminton and volley ball court, Swimming Pool is available in case you are interested in some outdoor games. They arrange guided morning treks for around 3 km. Wildlife and Hollywood movies are showcased on a daily basis. Bonfire in the night and transport facilities for local sightseeing, safari is available. They also do arrange night drive for 2000 INR in case you are interested to spot wildlife during the nocturnal period.
The other options in this area are the Jungle Lodges & Resort and The Serai. Jungle Lodges and Resort offers deals on per person basis with safari charges included. They have their own safari trail that is around 2 hours while the forest department’s safari duration is around one hour. The other resorts do not have permission to run their safari. Country Club and The Serai have tie ups with Jungle Lodges and can make arrangements to avail the JLR safari.
The staff arranges Night Safari for it’s residents. It is a short drive until Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary. Many birds visit this property in the early morning hours and is a great spot for Birding.
