Prashanti Lodge in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh

APPROACH & ACCOMODATION

The Prashanti Lodge is based in Bhalukpong town towards the Assam state. I stayed in this hotel when I was returning from Arunachal Pradesh. This town lies in both the states and I found the concept very amusing. The approach to Prashanti Lodge is quite easy as it is very close to the main road. The last 100 meters though is not very appealing as you pass through garbage. It would help if this area is cleaned and made more appealing.

There are rooms and cottages in this property. I stayed in a cottage and found them very clean and spacious. The cottages have two rooms one with sofas more like a sitting area followed by a bedroom. The sheets and the bath were clean. One might face mosquito problem hence it is advisable to keep the windows closed. The cottages face the lawns which also has a children’s play area.

Early morning view is absolutely recommended from the small gallery in the cottage. The Jia Bhoreli river flows next to the property and is a beautiful place to walk on its banks. You might sight many birds as well. It is told wild elephants trespass this area in the night. The same river flows as the Kameng river in Arunachal Pradesh.

FOOD & NETWORK

The food in this property is average nothing special to rant or complain. They serve decent meals in their restaurant which is at a walk able distance from the cottages.

Only BSNL operates in this area hence it is advisable to carry a BSNL SIM. There could be frequent power cuts in this area and getting hot water for bath  in such situations becomes difficult. The kitchen doesn’t open before 7 a.m. hence water heated on gas stove wouldn’t be available prior to that.

ACTIVITIES

One can play badminton, volleyball etc. in the park or take a walk by the river and indulge in some Birding.

Sea Gull is another hotel in Bhalukpong which is located in Arunachal Pradesh but I wouldn’t recommend it as the property wasn’t maintained well, staff was rude and the rooms weren’t clean. I had stayed in this hotel on my way to Arunachal Pradesh.

Prashanti Lodge is a very good option in this area and I would highly recommend this property based on my stay in their cottages. Please note I haven’t stayed in their rooms. It is the best base while heading towards Arunachal Pradesh.
