Marigold by Green Park

My trip to Hyderabad in January’15 was more like an impromptu decision one that was decided couple of days before the travel. This one was with hubby dear and my first travel for the year 2015. I normally prefer staying with the locals but in Hyderabad I couldn’t find in a short period any homestays that would interest me. So I decided to splurge a bit and went ahead with a high end hotel Marigold by Green Park at Begumpet.

A five star hotel in the heart of the city I took a weekend package deal which was 4499 INR for one night and two days with a late checkout time of 6 p.m. IST. This package is for a couple with two kids below 12 years. It includes complementary breakfast, one major meal (Lunch or dinner), free WIFI, usage of swimming pool and the gym. The guests also get 25% discount on food for other meals.  Their check-in time is normally after 10 a.m. but we reached the hotel by 7 a.m. considering we had taken the overnight Volvo bus from Pune. We had to wait for around 1.5 hours after which we were handed over the keys, though I wouldn’t complain as we were early for the day.

Mekong Restaurant

The hotel has couple of restaurants Saffron Soul for the world cuisine, Mekong pan Asian specialty and a lounge Mystique. I didn’t try the Mekong and Mystique so wouldn’t be able to comment on them.

APPROACH & ACCOMMODATION

The hotel is easily approachable and is close to the Green Park Hotel which is a part of the same group. The rooms, beds are huge and spacious with clean bathrooms. Toiletries like comb, tooth brush, bathing liquid soap, shampoo were placed on the counter. Tea, Coffee, Mineral was complimentary.

FOOD & NETWORK

On the same day of arriving I had dinner at their Saffron Soul restaurant which was buffet style. The dinner was multi-course and not something great to rant about. It was good and the same was in the case of breakfast next morning.

WIFI worked in the rooms as well and I didn’t face any network issue as regards mobile network service provider. I used BSNL, Idea and both worked perfectly well.

ACTIVITIES

The hotel has a gymnasium and a swimming pool but I didn’t have the time to try them out as I was keen to explore the city and spend time on the streets. You see it was my first visit to the city. They do have a travel desk and provide car on rent for day long sight-seeing but we didn’t avail this facility.

Overall a great experience and I would recommend a stay in this hotel when in Hyderabad.
